CIVIQ is looking for an up and coming, self-motivated Associate Mechanical Engineer CAD-Designer to work with Hardware Engineering team to create and maintain our industry-leading, rugged smart city product designs, and to assist in their construction. In this role, you will work closely with Mechanical Engineering team, Manufacturing Engineers, and Contract Manufactures to ensure deployment a safe, reliable smart cities product. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with senior engineers and designers to review design packages and help implement processes for sound, scalable design practices. This role is a fit for you if you are an inventive problem solver, capable of working through technical challenges and employing pragmatic solutions, and enjoy the combination of design drafting and hands-on work on the floor.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Create detailed design documentation using Solid works for manufacturing release that meet safety, compliance and industrial regulations
  • Work with Mechanical Engineering team to assist with project tasks
  • Help solve complex engineering problems
  • Participate and contribute to design reviews
  • Define, create and maintain assembly documents, development of procedures and standards
  • Create drawings in both 2 and 3-dimensional form using Solid works, or Orcad capture
  • Aid in the selection of materials for the products
  • Interact with suppliers and vendors
  • Build/validate prototypes and develop manufacturing procedures
  • Create 3D renderings using Solid works tools

Technical/Professional Knowledge/Skills:

  • Skilled in using Solid Works to perform engineering tasks
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability and serviceability techniques
  • Ability to assemble prototypes and perform other hands on tasks
  • Strong hands-on skills, skilled operator of hand tools (examples: screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, calipers, etc.) and small power tools
  • Ability to multi task, working on several project at one time while managing time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. alone and team lift over 50 lbs.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word and Excel

Essential Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience or internship in corporate environment using Solid Works
  • Experience in using small power tools and understand their use and function
  • Experience using Tormach CNC machine (Plus)
