Software Integration Engineer, IoT - Milford, MA

CIVIQ is looking for a strong, hands-on IoT Software Integration Engineer to join our team and support the ongoing integration of various sensors and IoT devices into our unified technology platform. In this role you will be responsible for learning the capabilities and APIs of multiple sensors, from various vendors, and over various connectivity technologies, and for developing and testing their integration into the CIVIQ software, hardware and network platform. You will be the primary, direct contact for our technology providers and will leverage your past experience in sensor related software, hardware and network systems to select the appropriate integration parts.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Own, lead and execute hands-on the integration process of our complex systems with 3rd party vendors' IoT devices providing environmental sensors, street lights, water meters, cameras’ controls and a variety of other sensors-based services
  • Communicate regularly with technology partners and vendors, order the required material and assure the proper content (hardware, software and connectivity) aligns with our systems and is ready for integration
  • Review sensor specs, compare between alternatives and decide which fit our systems best for integration
  • Perform system integrations that address marketing requirements as defined by the product manager
  • Develop unit, integration and system tests
  • Collaborate with the product manager, software platform architect, backend software developers, hardware engineers, manufacturing and purchasing departments

Technical/Professional Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven track record of hands-on, complex system integration involving software, hardware, sensors and communication
  • Expert level development skills in Java and C system software
  • Demonstrable ability to take responsibility for deliverables and work to very tight timelines on multiple detailed activities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, debugging skills
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally

Essential Education & Experience:

  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing commercial-quality Java and C system software
  • Experience working on projects from concept to implementation alone or with a team
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly preferred: City management, utilities, asset management, Water, Smart Grid or lighting
  • Experience with smart city related technologies and sensors is preferred
